After The Install What to Expect

It is normal for extensions to feel slightly tight for the first few days after installation. That will soon go away, and become more comfortable with wear. I have found everyone is different with varying sensitivity levels with their scalp. For first time extension wearers, it is important to give your scalp a chance to get used to the extra attached weight of the hair extensions. However, how I install and how much I install is very attentive and always has scalp health as a top priority and will be monitored throughout your extension wearing experience.

Top Priorities When Taking Care of Your Extensions

The Three most important things that will affect the life of your extensions are

1.Products

Apply recommended leave-in conditioner + oil throughout mid to ends on damp or dry hair 3-4 times a week. This will keep your extensions looking healthy and soft with added shine. Moisture hair masks are recommended every 3-4 washes and use a sulfate free and color safe shampoo and conditioner. Product lines I recommend are Iles formula and Unite. A detangler and heat protectant are also highly recommended.

2.Brushing

On dry hair, separate rows and hold the base of the extensions while brushing starting from the bottom and working your way up from the ends to your base. I recommend using a Bath pack or WET brush.

3.Heat

If you are using hot tools please keep the heat under 360 degrees. Extensions curl very easily and do not need excessive heat to hold a style.

Do’s and Don’ts For Extensions

  • Don’t go to bed with wet hair. Always blow dry your hair if you are washing in the evenings to prevent matting. If you air dry your hair, blow dry at least the roots of your extensions.

  • Don’t put your hair in a bun or pony with too much tension or pulling on the corners of your extensions.

  • Don’t use products that contain sulfates, parabens, or high amounts of keratin or protein.

  • Don’t let regular SPF contact your extensions. It will turn them a peach color.

  • Don’t over use purple shampoo. It can dry the extensions out and deposit too much pigment if over used.

  • DO secure you hair in a low pony or braid before sleeping.

  • DO throughly brush through each row, making sure you hold the top of the wefts.

  • DO use a mineral sunscreen.

  • DO secure your hair in a pony or braids before swimming and throughly wash your hair as soon as possible after.

  • DO shampoo through your hair twice. I suggest if you have more than one row to wash you hair parted in two sections. clip up the top half and wash the bottom half first then let down the rest and shampoo the top half. Condition all together from mids to ends.

  • DO continue living your best life with your amazing hair
